~Dear Pat,

       I am 55 years old and have been diagnosed with Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis.  Besides putting me on bone density medications and anti-inflammatory pills, my doctor has recommended that I start doing weight bearing exercises.  I found your website while searching on the internet and thought I would give your exercise program a try. 
    I received my "Fitness After Fifty" DVD 3 weeks ago and I am so thrilled with my results so far.  I followed your recommendation of starting out with 3 lb. dumbbells for the first week, then increasing to 5 lb. dumbbells.  Let me tell you, my body feels so much stronger in just 3 weeks.  I no longer feel that aching in my joints when I have to squat down to get an item out of my lower cabinet in my kitchen.  Exercising on a regular basis has also helped me to sleep better at night.  I also noticed that I don't get tired as easily at work anymore like I used to.
    You are absolutely right about increasing your body strength and stamina.  I still have to take my bone density medication but I have stopped taking my inflammatory pills.  I don't feel any stiffness in my joints that I felt 3 weeks ago.  It's such a refreshing feeling that I can feel my flexibility returning slowly but surely.
